Happy 4th of July

Fun with friends can happen anywhere. This time our backyard. We had the water slide up for the kids, the grill going, and some fireworks to finish it off. I sooo enjoy my family and friends.

Here is a picture of the gang, minus a few that left early.
Here is a close up of the red, white, and blue hair up-do's. The kids loved them.

Imani's graduation songs.

The Graduate

Imani graduated from Kindergarten! Serious graduation, complete with cap and gown. The program was at the daycare. They sang songs about the days of the week, the 50 states, the super kids (how they learned their letters). It was super cute. Not an afraid bone in Imani's body. In fact she is such a little leader. Her friend sat beside her and followed Imani's every lead. So proud of the little girl. I just can't believe how much she learned this year. She is doing simple addition and subtraction, spelling, reading, and telling time. Amazing! We cam back to the house after the ceremonies and had pizza and cupcakes with Grandma and Grandpa and friends. Since not everyone could fit in the daycare she did the program at home as well.

The Cake Makers

We have been making cakes on a rented Wii Cake Maker game all weekend. And then this morning we went for the real deal. Check out my cute cake making helpers and our end result.

Cute Scooby Do

Had to share this cute picture of my Scooby Do (Nia).
She can be such a sweet kid. She is such a peacemaker lately. In fact I'm actually encouraging her to NOT always give in to her sister. Scary that I'm actually wanting the conflict, but I don't want her to get steam-rolled.

Dancing with the Stars

It's Monday night so we are watching Dancing with the Stars - Imani's favorite. A few nights ago she learned that her Grandma also loves the show. So tonight she says, "mom, call Grandma. I want to see if she is watching our show." I dial the phone for her and here is what I can hear of their conversation.

Hi Grandma this is Imani.
Are you watching Dancing with the Stars?
Ya I liked the red ruffle dress.
Can you believe they got 9's?
My favorite is Melissa.
She was first on the Bachelorette show.
Ya she has a tattoo but they covered it up with make-up and glitter.
OK Bye, I love you.

Nice, huh? Well, she loves her Grandma and now she is back to dancing, spinning, dipping, you name it.

Swimming Lessons

The girls are doing a fantastic job in their swimming lessons. They are in separate classes and thus must go it alone and wait their turn. No problems though - they are being great! We usually stay for free swim since it starts right when Nia's class ends. They get so worn out....... it's great.
Imani is dunking her head like a champ (holds her cute little nose and bobs up and down). She is learning to float and learning her strokes. Funny, I have purchased atleast 3 new swim suits for Imani and she is still wearing one from a couple of years ago.

Nia pretty much does her own thing. She will blow the bubbles but has no interest in putting her whole face in the water and just shakes her head no if the instructor asks her to.
